What is the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award?

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is an awesome program for young people aged 14 to 24. It’s all about pushing your limits, discovering new skills, and making a difference. Started by Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, in 1956, this award helps you become the best version of yourself through fun and challenging activities in four areas: Volunteering, Physical, Skills, and Expedition.

How it works

There are three levels to achieve, each more challenging than the last:

Bronze (Year 9 age 14+)
Silver (Year 10 age 15+)
Gold (Age 16+)

For each level there are 4 areas to work through...

Give back to your community, help others, and feel great knowing you’re making a difference.

Get active, improve your fitness, and discover the fun in staying healthy.

Learn something new or get better at something you love – from cooking to coding, the choice is yours!

Go on an adventure! Plan and complete a journey in the great outdoors, working as a team and overcoming challenges.

For each level there is a different amount of commitment required. At gold level there is also a residential!
